Artist Statement - Thaedra Frangos
In my life journey and as a creative movement artist, dancer and Warrawi healer, I am inspired by how the story of our lives and that of our Ancestors is woven into our connective tissue and into the landscape. We are literally shaped by our experiences and by those who have gone before us.
Being on Country, inviting, listening and relating. Present and Ancestral stories are shared within body and Country. We are the earth.
Bare feet, grounded. Feeling, sensing, communicating.
Within this intimate, fluid relationship, emerges a ritual, a dance, a ceremony.
Potency of healing awakens. Tensions and patterns unravel and reorganise.
Stories are retold and reimagined.
Presence is felt within a wholeness of being that we know as our truth.
I honour and embody cross cultural identity and matrilineal bloodlines as a First Nations Dhudhuroa and Wamba Wemba woman with Lenape ancestry and patrilineal Greek traveller bloodlines from Mytikas, Greece.
