Connection with identity - action in integrity
Cultural identity is not fixed, it’s always evolving, like language. It meets the moment. Identity is both ancient and alive now in presence.
It’s very simple in a way. Knowing who you are, where you come from and your relationship with Country is integral to believing in yourself.
If you are unable to access parts of yourself because they are disconnected, dissociated, shut down, cut off, you walk through life without the fullness of your being accessible to you. This is not a personal fault to be held. Colonisation disconnects. Healing revitalises.
Disconnection from identity impacts relationships, confidence, creativity, health (mind, body, spirit), access to inner knowledge and connection to Country.
If you are exploring your identity, it's important to be supported fully, to be able to really be present and connect with your body, your felt, sensed, ancestral and embodied somatic presence. This is not your left brain, it is the vast intangible wisdom that speaks in forms that must be attended to, to be heard. There's a lot of pain here, which is where the healing comes in. Having a guide to walk with you, to hold the space with you.
And, it's important, to take in all your Ancestors, particularly for some in so called 'Australia', where the dissociated amnesia of the Colonial marketing plan is alive and well. It's ok to feel grief and rage and all the emotions of what happened in your lineage. You carry it with you, whether it is acknowledged, or not. Things in the shadows, cut off from view, impact all that we do, our footprint can leave giant marks, knowing what we are doing, where it comes from and our connection with where we are now. The time, is now.
Acknowledging with deep reverence and gratitude, the Custodians of the unceded land, skies, seas and waterways where we are grateful to live and work - the Wadawurrung People of the Kulin Nations and honouring their Ancestors, Elders and future generations.
