Regulating the nervous system = reconnecting with spirit

Regulating the nervous system = reconnecting with spirit

Curious. What are we really talking about when we speak of 'our nervous system'? Who's nervous system? Are we not that system? Is it a feeling of being disconnected from ourselves, disconnected from our body, our Ancestors, our Spirit and the Earth.

There are endless thought bubbles, theories and so called western science explaining all of that, offering solutions for regulation and balancing. But what of it? In reality, what are we really speaking of?

I wonder, when we are speaking of the nervous system, we are really speaking of our spirit, of our heart. How connected are we to our heartbeat and the rhythms of our spirit dancing with the rhythm of country. How are we really navigating, being with, sensing and feeling, in this moment?

Regulation is reconnection with spirit.

I believe, that facilitating reconnection with our spirit, is what the healing moments are. Often, when having the privilege to walk this journey with clients, if they feel disregulated, their heart literally feels like it is outside of their body. It feels like it is  sitting up, apart from the body, outside the body, separated from the wholeness. Just like when a surgeon removes an organ, the heart literally feels like it is up in the ether, out of the nourishing containment of its place in the landscape of the body.

This feeling is present in dissociated states, in states of shock, emotional disconnection and pain. A lot of times, there is no ability to even sense the heart, it is cold or buzzy or floaty or empty. The suppressed emotions and experiences feeling too great to acknowledge.

If we are disconnected from our hearts then how do we reconnect with our Spirit? The potent aliveness and creativity that we are? The connection with the wholeness of being.

Feeling safe and supported, so our hearts can rest back in our body, contained in our being with full presence, honouring our spirits. That is healing.
